Young people across Orkney will tomorrow (Tuesday 6 August) receive their SQA results. If your results are not what you expected, don’t panic you still have options – and there will be experts on hand to help you navigate the next part of your journey. From 8am on Tuesday 6 August, a dedicated Results Helpline from Skills Development Scotland (SDS) will run with Careers Advisers waiting to answer calls and offer advice, information and support to young people and their parents or carers. They will have access to information on course vacancies at colleges and universities, confirmation and clearing, Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships, jobs, volunteering or staying on at school.
You can call the helpline on 0808 100 8000. It will be open from 8am-8pm on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 August, then open on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 August between 9am-5pm. If you would rather speak to someone familiar, Careers Advisers from the local Skills Development Scotland (SDS) team in Kirkwall will be available - providing exam results support to anyone who needs it. You can come past the SDS Careers Centre, 2 Albert Street, Kirkwall, between 9am and 4pm on Tuesday 6 August and speak to a Careers Adviser. You can also get in touch with the local team by calling (01856) 872 460 or emailing [email protected]. There will also be support available to pupils in schools for those looking to re-course, or who have questions about career pathways.
