Activity Planner

Developing the Young Workforce Orkney undertake a range of activities and initiatives throughout the year to enable young people to develop their career awareness, pathway knowledge and employability skills.  We are supported in our activity by local employers, training and learning providers and support agencies.

To help our partners plan their engagement with our activity, we have developed an Activity Planner, which can be viewed below.  This planner plots out our activity for the year, giving an overview so those supporting our work can identify if it is something they would like to get involved with.

Some of the activities that we deliver are ongoing throughout the year, others are regular fixtures that we undertake annually on a specific day or week, while others are one off activities.

One of the ongoing activities we offer is Lunch with an Employer, which is delivered fortnightly at Stromness Academy throughout the academic year.  To learn more about this activity, and to get inspiration for your own input, you can watch a short video of previous inputs here.

Included in this planner are some national campaigns, these include:

  • Scottish Apprenticeship Week
  • No Wrong Path

As well as the activities detailed below, the team will also look for work placement opportunities for pupils throughout the year, and are also developing new events and initiatives to support young people, so you may still be contacted regarding events or initiatives not included in the planner.  This calendar will be updated throughout the year to help you with your advance planning.

If you would like to discuss participation in any of these activities, please contact the team by emailing [email protected].
