It isn’t easy supporting your child to make decisions about their career. However, as you will often be one of the first people they ask for advice, it is important that you feel confident and well-informed in order that you can guide your child in the right direction. 

The first step is understanding the local opportunities that exist for young people. What are the main industries that exist in Orkney? Are there local employers who offer opportunities to young people? What types of jobs are available in the local area? If my child isn’t ready for the world of work just yet, what college courses are available in Orkney?
