UNLOCKING POTENTIAL THROUGH AN APPRENTICESHIP

During Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023, we hosted an online event to enable local people to learn more about apprenticeships, how to access funding and the opportunities that exist in Orkney and further afield.  The event focused on how an apprenticeship can help individuals and businesses unlock potential.

During this event, there was a chance to:

  • Learn about the three Apprenticeship frameworks available in Scotland, learning how they can be accessed and how they can support career progression.
  • Hear from a local apprentice who spoke about their apprenticeship and how it had benefitted them.
  • Discover from a local employer about the positive impact apprentices can have on a business, and
  • Learn about one of the apprenticeship frameworks offered by Orkney College UHI and how they can support individuals and businesses.

The below video is a recording of the event, so if you were unable to attend you can still access the relevant information.

If you would like more information about apprenticeships, visit www.apprenticeship.scot or www.orkney.uhi.ac.uk. If you are at school, you can find out more information from your Guidance Teacher, Careers Adviser or the DYW School Co-ordinator.  If you have left school, you can speak to a Skills Development Scotland Careers Adviser through their centre in Kirkwall, or by emailing [email protected] or phoning (01856) 872 460.  If you are an employer, you can contact DYW Orkney by emailing [email protected].
