Interviews

 If you have successfully secured an interview for a job, apprenticeship, college or university course - well done!

An interview is a chance for an employer to ask you questions and learn more about your skills, abilities and suitability for a particular job.  Colleges and universities use interviews to learn more about your interests and abilities and your suitability for a particular course.  This section will help you prepare for an interview by explaining the different types of interview format there are, help you prepare responses to interview questions and give you hints and tips for when you attend an interview.

While an interview is often a chance for you to meet your potential employer in person - and them to meet you - because of the current social distancing guidance and an increase in home working this is not always possible, so video and phone interviews are becoming more common. The presentation below includes some hints to help you prepare for a video or phone interview.

Regardless of the interview format, the principles for preparing for an interview are the same, so it is a good idea to watch the above presentation as well and complete the activities below.
