This includes those who support young people by giving them a work placement so that they can build their skills and gain experience in a workplace. We recently visited one of these employers to see first-hand the type of work that the pupils will do when on placement. David and Karis at The Yard Plant Nursery help young people who go on placement with them to gain experience in gardening, from taking on seeds, propagating flowers/plants and shrubs from parent plants, through to developing and maintaining the Tankerness House Gardens there is so much a young person can learn while there. Activities that The Yard carry out benefit the whole Orkney community and they provide opportunities, not just for the young people, but for many others through their mission of therapeutic gardening in the community. The Yard is a nurturing place to be and we are delighted and grateful that young people can get work placements there. Thank you to David and Karis for supporting our local young people. Our Jobs of the Week are now available to view.
