The latest issue of DYW Orkney’s Employer Newsletter has been published.

This issue includes an overview of some of the work the team has undertaken to support young people during the recent subject choice period, or as they consider their next steps after leaving school.  It also include details of our recent employer engagement activity, including an employer information event held earlier this month at the recently opened Hub for Learning, Skills and Work.  Finally, we share the key findings of a Scottish Government report which evaluates DYW’s effectiveness in working with employers.

It is Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which this year has the theme ‘Unlocking Potential’.  Apprenticeships are a fantastic way of gaining a qualification whilst working, letting you earn money while gaining experience.  If you would like to learn more about the different apprenticeships available in Orkney, visit apprenticeships.scot, or speak to a Careers Adviser in school or at the careers centre in Kirkwall.  If you’re still at school, you can also speak to your Guidance Teacher.
