The final video we are sharing this week as part of the A Job for Everybody campaign features Harry, who tells us how he secured a job at Sunnybrae as a Kitchen Assistant.
In this video we hear from Harry and his manager, Sally. They tell us a bit about what Harry does in his role, how the Employment Support team helped him secure employment and the positive impact working has on him.
The A Job for Everybody campaign has been set up to show the barriers that some people can face when it comes to getting a job, including those relating to disability, gender, sexual orientation, race and religion.
People with learning disabilities are one of the groups most excluded from the workplace. Despite many being willing and able to work the Scottish Government estimates as few as 7% of adults with learning disabilities are in employment.
As part of this campaign, we are sharing the stories of local people who have found employment with the support of the Employment Support Team at Orkney Islands Council.
If you would like more information about the Employment Support team and how they can support individuals, or if you are an employer who would like to offer someone a work placement or job, visit the OIC website, here.
