Are you an employer who would like to develop your workforce and build the skills that you need now for a sustainable business?

​Throughout Scottish Apprenticeship Week (Monday 7 – Friday 11 March), Developing the Young Workforce and Skills Development Scotland are working in partnership to deliver a series of webinar to help employers learn more about apprenticeships.

These webinars are:
 
Apprenticeships Work For Your Business.
Monday 7 March, 10am-11am
 
During the event, you will:

  • Hear from other employers and their apprentices about the benefits of apprenticeships
  • Find out from experts about the practical support available to recruit or upskill existing employees through apprenticeships
  • Learn how Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships can support employee progression and skills development.
 
This event is for employers of all sizes and sectors across Scotland to find out how Scottish Apprenticeships can work for their business.
 
Panelists include Scottish Power Energy Networks, Sitekit, Pulsion Technology and the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Making Foundation Apprenticeships Work for Employers
Tuesday 8 March, 10am
 
During this event you will learn the necessary steps an employer needs to take to successfully recruit a Foundation Apprentice.
 
Expect to learn about:

  • Where to find a suitable framework and the learning providers who deliver it.
  • Finding a suitable candidate that aligns to your business needs/values.
  • Setting a project that works for you and the learner.
  • How to mentor and support the learner on their journey.
 
Making Modern Apprenticeships Work for Employers
Wednesday 9 March, 10am
 
On this webinar you will learn the necessary steps you need to take to successfully recruit your first Modern Apprentice.
 
Expect to learn about:

  • Where to find a suitable framework and the learning providers who deliver.
  • Finding a suitable candidate that aligns to your business need/values.
  • Setting a project that works for you and your employee.
  • How to mentor and support the learner on their journey and much more.
 
Making Apprenticeships Work for Diversity
Wednesday 9 March, 2pm
 
On this webinar you will learn about the steps you can take to take positive action in recruiting apprentices.
 
You will hear from our equalities team on the support available to employers and from an employer SDS supported to successfully target and recruit Modern and Graduate Apprentices to improve the gender and ethnicity balance of their workforce, the results and how they continuing to use this advice and partnerships.
 
Making Graduate Apprenticeships Work for Employers
Thursday 10 March, 10am
 
On this webinar you will learn about the necessary steps you need to take to successfully recruit your first Graduate Apprentice.
 
You will learn about:

  • Where to find a suitable framework and the learning providers who deliver.
  • Finding a suitable candidate that aligns to your business need/values.
  • Setting a project that works for you and your employee

Making Apprenticeships Work in a Changing Labour Market
Thursday 10 March, 2pm
 
On this Labour Market Information (LMI) webinar you will have an opportunity to hear from the Skills Development Scotland Evidence and Impact team on the latest Scottish LMI trends and analysis.

  • Who are the evidence and Impact Team and what key LMI outputs are they looking at?
  • An Overview of Scotland's economy, what are the impacts of Covid, rising livings costs and inflation to business?
  • An overview of Scotland's labour market, employment/unemployment, what are the affects of economic inactivity and what are the top employing occupations?
  • A look at Green Jobs and an opportunity to ask the team questions on what the trends are telling us.
