![]() The final School Co-ordinator joining our team is Luigi Borsotti, who will be based at Stromness Academy. Originally from Italy, Luigi has recently graduate from university, and here he tells us a bit about his career journey to date, and explains why he wanted to get involved with DYW Orkney. “When I was 18, I left Italy to complete my studies in Brighton, without any concrete project for my future after the A-Levels. I ultimately decided to pursue higher education thanks to the teachers and friends who believed in me.
“In 2017, I moved to Inverness to begin my BSc (Hons) in Sustainable Development at the University of the Highlands and Islands, and after a couple of years I relocated again to Kirkwall right before the start of the pandemic. “After completing my degree in the summer of 2021, I knew it was time to challenge myself with a new job which I could be excited and proud of; and unexpectedly, after a couple of months I got an interview and was offered the role of School Co-ordinator at Stromness Academy. “During my studies in Brighton, I volunteered as a teaching assistant at a local school and was working mainly with pupils with learning difficulties and those who needed more support. I cherished that experience and knew I would be passionate about working with students and young adults to help them achieve their potential. “Four years later, my passion and interest in providing support and guidance to young adults motivated me to apply for the role of School Co-ordinator. “I am excited to be part of the DYW Orkney team and I wish to support pupils in identifying a career path they can be proud of as I am in my current position. I am also ready to co-operate with local employers to ensure that the curriculum reflects local needs while enhancing the employability skills of young adults.” Comments are closed.
