![]() Stephen Kemp is a member of the DYW Orkney Regional Group Board and is the Managing Director of Orkney Builders (Contractors) Ltd. and a Director of Orkney Distilling. "I left school at the end of S5, having completed my Higher exams at KGS. I then commenced at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh just as I turned 17 in September that year, studying BSc (Hons) Construction Management. Following graduation in 2002, I worked in Orkney for a few years @OrkneyBuilders. In order to further develop my experience, I then spent a time in Edinburgh working on a major regeneration project (the Waterfront Development), eventually returning to Orkney in 2007 to take on a senior position within the family firm Orkney Builders (Contractors) Ltd."
Why did you become involved with DYW Orkney? “I joined DYW Orkney initially to Chair the newly formed group, and to assist with the bid to the National DYW Committee to secure the funding for DYW Orkney. “For almost a decade, I’ve chaired the Orkney Construction Training Group. As a group, an integral part of what we do is promote the Orcadian construction industry, and the training and employment opportunities that the sector can present locally. It was therefore natural to join DYW, in order to enhance the work of the OCTG by integration and cooperation with DYW Orkney.” Comments are closed.
