Developing the Young Workforce groups across Scotland are all taking part in Scotland’s Biggest Parents’ Evening today (Wednesday 6 March 2019) in order to show parents and carers the benefits of undertaking an apprenticeship. Timed to coincide with Scottish Apprenticeship Week, this day of action will see every regional DYW group hosting an event with local employers and DYW Orkney is no different.
This afternoon we are hosting an information event for parents at Orkney College UHI, where interested young people and their parents will be able to learn more about apprenticeships, how they can support young people and help them develop the skills they need for work. The event will provide information on Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships and is being co-hosted by Orkney College UHI. We will be joined by NHS Orkney and Orkney Islands Council, who will talk about their experience of employing and working with apprentices. Anyone interested in coming along had to reserve a space and we were delighted that the event is fully booked. Keep and eye on our social media sites for more details of the event. If you would like to see what other regional groups have been up to as part of the national campaign, search #BigParentsEve and #ScotAppWeek. Comments are closed.
