![]() We attended the Orkney Areas Finals of the Young Enterprise competition which were held at Orkney College on Thursday 4 April 2019, where teams from Stromness Academy and Kirkwall Grammar School competed to represent Orkney at the Scottish Finals in Edinburgh. ![]() Both Timeless, from Kirkwall Grammar School, and Tempus, from Stromness Academy, did brilliantly, representing themselves and their schools very well. As part of the finals process, each team has to set up a trade stand which, along with their social media presence, is judged. They also have to write a company report and financial statement which is reviewed by the judges and, finally, they prepare and give a presentation where they speak about the journey of their company from how they decided on their product, the production process and selling the product to the public. Their final task is to answer the judges' questions - and they didn't go easy on them! All of this is considered by the judges in their deliberations and helps them come to their final decision. Young Enterprise is a fantastic way for young people to develop their skills and experience and help prepare them for whatever they decide to do after school. Well done to Timeless from Kirkwall Grammar School who were announced as the overall winners and will be representing Orkney at the Scottish Finals in Edinburgh. Good luck to the team in the next round. Comments are closed.
