The Orkney International Science Festival are looking for young people to join their team of volunteers at this year’s Family Day. Held on Saturday 7 September 2019, at Kirkwall Grammar School, the Family Day is a highlight of the annual festival and offers fun activities for all ages to try. The festival committee are looking for volunteers to help out on the day in various roles. You can either help with general tasks; by supporting particular activities or helping the team serving refreshments. Joan Mackie, who is organising the Family Day, said: “At last year’s festival, we welcomed a number of young people as helpers and facilitators of events for the Year of Young People. They were a great addition to our team, so this year we are looking for more young people to help out, particularly at the Family Day. “There are a range of volunteering opportunities available which suit a variety of interests and skill sets. We would welcome any young person who is interested in helping out and developing their skills by volunteering with us. You don’t need to have an interest in science, we are just looking for enthusiastic people to help us on the day.” Volunteers will need to be aged 16 years and over and training will be given. Anyone volunteering must be available from 10am-4pm on Saturday 7 September 2019. If you are interested in helping out at this year’s Family Fun Day, please contact [email protected].
